Puberty in boys

What age should boys be going through puberty? DS is 14 but I am seeing no physical signs. Everything I read say 9-14 for boys so should I be getting a GP appointment now?
I know he’s not going to want that and I don’t want to make him feel self conscious or draw attention to it. I’m not sure if it’s something he’s considered or not. But the last thing I want to do is make him feel worried or embarrassed.

any ideas?

I would see your GP. My DS is 14 and has been in full swing puberty for 3 years at least, the signs started a good 18 months before that.
A friend of his has just started genetic testing as he has not grown in 2 years or started puberty.

My DS was a bit older than 14 when he finally started puberty, probably closer to 15. He was definitely the last in his friendship group, but then all of a sudden it just happened.

To put it bluntly the first sign of puberty in boys tend to be "down below" so you may not be aware of them. Everything else follows these because testosterone is produced in the testes. If things are happening down below then no need to worry.

Have you asked his dad when his voice broke and he had his growth spurt? If he was on the late side 15/16 then it may be your son takes after him.

If truly nothing is happening by 14.5 I think you should take him to the GP. Either way either you or his dad is going to have to talk to him.
