Sun hats.

I have a nearly-teen who isn't great in the sun.
We are going on holiday in February to somewhere very warm. She will want to be in the pool all day.

We know from experience daughter and sun do not mix. Headaches, sickness etc.
I'm looking for an age appropriate hat she can wear in the pool to shield her head from the sun. All I can find is the ones for young children.

Ideally, waterproof/UV etc

Any recommendations please?

My teen nieces and nephews all wear bucket hats

Bucket hat or a baseball cap

Your child gets headaches and sickness in hot sun and yet you're going on holiday to somewhere "very warm"?

@SausageRoll2020 I don't do well in the sun if my head isn't covered, I still repeatedly go to hot places because the hat helps keep the sun from beating down on my head. You learn to navigate around it.

I assume the OP's DD is fine when sheltered say under a parasol but in the pool she is exposed to the sun, I also wear a sun hat when in water. I am very pale skinned. I also wear a UV50 rash vest and board shorts in water parks.

I second the bucket hat suggestion.

Thank you for saying exactly what I was
About to.

As you say, you learn to navigate it by wearing a hat/shade etc.

Because that's where we are going and providing her head is covered, she is fine.

Agree with bucket hat

I have a very pale ginger teen DS. We went to Lanzarote last August and it hit almost 40 each day. He wore a UV rash vest and a baseball cap in the pool, plus factor 50.
We bought a couple of cheap hats from Primark so he didn't care about getting them wet.
His sister tried a bucket hat but it came off constantly when they played.
We also got them both out of the sun every 20-30 minutes for a drink and 10 minutes in the shade and had no headaches or sunstroke 😊

Have a lovely holiday!

I react badly to the sun too and bought myself a bucket hat for a recent holiday abroad but it actually made it worse as it was a thick material and seemed to trap the heat in the top of my head rather than let it dissipate, I ended up feeling very unwell after walking around with it on for a couple of hours so make sure whatever you get is breathable material. I just try and stay out of direct sun wherever possible and take regular breaks somewhere with air conditioning.
