Hi I wasn’t sure where to post this but my dd has just moved down to Bournemouth and she was close to doing her driving test

can anyone recommend a good driving instructor in Bournemouth that teaches automatic please?

You’d be best to join a local Bournemouth facebook group, they’ll be able to recommend someone local and get an idea of who is good

Thank you , would you know what the local Bournemouth forum is called on fb please
I had a search last night and couldn’t find anything

A quick search on Facebook shows loads of groups for Bournemouth.
try search for Bournemouth residents group or Bournemouth community some will come up

My son is in the same boat, started driving over the summer and is continuing now back at BU. I can send you his instructors details but no idea if he does auto as my son is learning in a manual.

Duchess87 · 25/09/2024 21:50

Hi Charlotte , I would love the details please ?

I’ve have tried recommendations one is Manuel only and the other is intensive courses
my dd just needs test preparation
Ive phoned so many instructors most of which are Manuel or are fully booked until next year

Im keen for lessons asap as if she stops for a while her confidence will go .

It’s same in spot of areas because tests are taking ages to get that means people keep having lessons for longer meaning the instructors are full. Best you can do is just keep trying instructors and join some waiting lists, look at local forums and facebooks groups in case anyone is advertising

Thankyou , I never imagined that it would be this difficult I’ve spoken to so many instructors and no availability

If there’s manual availability would it not make sense to learn in that? It’s always best to be able to drive both I think, keep options open and all that

Bournemouth is a nightmare very few instructors have availability. I have rung round several and e mailed a few and response is no space at the current time. Also no driving tests available until mid April. I think its because Bournemouth no longer has a test centre and all tests are done in Poole or Dorchester.

I spoke to one instructor and he said the other problem in Bournemouth is that most kids as soon as they hit 17 seem to want to learn to drive - possibly as a relatively affulent area parents can afford to facilitate this - in other areas parents don't have the disposable income to pay for lessons for their 17 year olds. My DH is from just outside Manchester and very few 17 year old even contemplate learning to drive most wait till their early 20's when they have to money to pay for their own lessons.
