She doesn't want me to look but says it looks no different but is itchy and irritating/sore.

Has stopped using any soaps and having warm water only bathing.
We've tried sudocrem but hasn't helped.

Unfortunately, also got her period today so not wanting to go to GP but we will if necessary

Does anyone know if Vagisil might help. I don't know how to help her

I'd try Caneston in the first instance.

longdistanceclaraclara · 05/09/2024 17:11

I'd suggested Canesten too. If she's using pads make sure they are unscented. What do you mean by down below - vulva, vagina or both?

Allmarbleslost · 05/09/2024 17:11

I would treat for thrush and for worms

IdLikeToBeAFraser · 05/09/2024 17:11

She might not be able to see it but it could be a bit of an infection/irritaiton on the surface, or a bladder infection. The former is something DD suffered from a lot and baths with tee tree oil and lavender oil helped a lot.

Oh, just realised thrush too - canestan. You'd have to check if tea tree oil etc would be bad if it was thrush.

Also, does she have pubic hair and is it possible she's attempted to shave or ct it? That can cause itching while regrowing and/or due to ingrown hairs. I did that a few times at a similar age.

AdultChildQuestion · 05/09/2024 17:12

Treat for thrush. You can buy treatment over the counter.

thismummydrinksgin · 05/09/2024 17:17

I'd also treat for thrush and worms.

Cantfindthewordsddstruggling · 05/09/2024 17:19

Another suggesting treating for both thrush and worms.

I'd also treat for thrush and worms.

Same, thrush and worms tablet, and canasten cream.

Order on Amazon now and they'll arrive tomorrow.

Vulva but she thought her bottom might be bleeding yesterday.

It's not from shaving and she's not been constipated.

Can anyone recommend a treatment for worms. Not something I've looked for before. I'm guessing I can just pick up canestan at Sainsbury's but worm treatment will require a pharmacy?

Thanks

Vulva but she thought her bottom might be bleeding yesterday.

Is there any chance she has piles? Admittedly, that itching is usually around the anus more but the blood is a pretty classic symptom?

Baconking · 05/09/2024 17:43

We've looked at a diagram the itching is more around the clitoris and urethra area.

Hasn't had any stinging when weeing apart from this afternoon. Have told her to drink lots of water.

Worm treatment would be something like ovex , from the pharmacy. They will say to treat the whole household.

thismummydrinksgin · 05/09/2024 18:29

She might have made her self sore scratching, perhaps the GP may be the best option

Pigeonqueen · 05/09/2024 18:31

Most likely thrush. I’d treat for thrush first - you can buy the internal and external cream canestan combo from Amazon for next day delivery - the internal cream is more effective and gentle to use than the pessary (it’s 10% active ingredient; the external cream that it comes with is 2%, two different things).

unrsnblyannoyd · 05/09/2024 18:34

Canestan cream & pessary plus cranberry juice, loose cotton underwear avoid hot baths/showers

Laszlomydarling · 05/09/2024 18:42

Until you get it treated, ibuprofen can help the soreness

Baconking · 05/09/2024 18:45

Thanks all.

The pharmacy wouldn't provide anything for thrush as under 16. He gave a 1% anti fungal so going to try that for a couple of days and lots of water.
Will pick up cranberry juice tomorrow too.

As she has her period now probably won't be good visibility for GP so will wait until Monday and hope the 1% cream helps in the meantime.

Cranberry juice will not treat this. All cranberry juice will do is sting like hell when the poor girls pees and create an environment that makes it harder for bacteria to thrive in. Water alone is fine for UTI.

Ultimately, she needs a GP. Not pseudo-treatments.

justasking111 · 05/09/2024 22:08

I drink those cranberry sachets when struck down invariably at the weekend, stops the pain until I can phone the surgery
