Second hand.

Caspianberg · 22/08/2024 20:41

Probably the same as adults. Less clothing items needed than small toddlers. Buy basics from places you can afford, and add a few brands he likes in selected items.

I have a 14 year old son, almost 6ft tall so I feel your pain. We do Primark for every day stuff (tracksuits etc) and M&M Direct or Next for other bits. Thankfully he's not into the JD Sports look.

shellyleppard · 24/08/2024 12:37

M and m direct are brilliant for teenagers clothes. Good prices too and its branded stuff

Billyandharry · 24/08/2024 12:39

Vinted/ebay/charity shops are your friend.x

drunken · 24/08/2024 12:41

Vinted and outlet villages. And sales from independents that sell the brands he likes

RhaenysRocks · 24/08/2024 15:19

If he's not at all into labels then Matalan is a good shout and supermarketvranges got pjain joggers, t shirts and hoodies. Also Decathlon sells good value sports wear.

DS, 15, 6'3" and skinny - Next online, age 17 trousers. T shirts from anywhere, they never meet the top of his trousers. M&M. Sports Direct. School shirts are M&S "extra long" in his age size.

Meadowfinch · 24/08/2024 16:13

My DS, 16, 5'11", starts 6th form next month, no school uniform but needs to be 'smart casual'. DS is picky, won't wear anything with polyester next to his skin. Doesn't like logos.

So far :
Navy cotton chinos from Next £16. I'll order another pair this week
White cotton/ linen mix mens shirt, Tesco sale £10
Dark blue small check cotton mens shirt - Tesco £15
Blue\white cotton hoody - H&M sale £7
Black mens hybrid coat in Blacks sale, £23 down from £80

He already has a pale blue button-down, a couple of decent polo shirts and another hoody.

Tomorrow is the battle for shoes. He wants trainers, the school says not. 😨.

I think it will cost about £150 all in. Thank God for the sales because men's clothes are so expensive.

Invisimamma · 24/08/2024 16:46

So expensive! 13yr old ds is in men's sizes and loves his brands.

We went this morning for new jeans and he tried so many pairs but nothing fitted his tiny waist and long legs, the sales assistant says a 28L doesn't really exist . The ones he settled on were £65, by that point we were both so fed up I just paid it.

T-shirts he'll wear Nike at £20-£30 each, but for smarter polos lactose and Fred Perry are £75-£100 each. I do search for sales, discounts and vinted.

He's asked for a CP company sweatshirt for birthday 😰.

My sister had 3 teen girls at the same time and had a deal with them. She paid for the basic version and they had to use their pocket money, birthday and Christmas money or what they earned extra to upgrade for more expensive stuff.

DSis would pay for good quality coats and shoes separately.

It worked, all the girls were savy with money, good at mixing cheaper stuff with a more expensive item.

My DD on the other hand isn't bothered about brands at all, she will happily just buy plain H&M.
