Where to get clothes which are NOT cropped/tight?

My dd doesn't want to wear crop tops or tight clothes etc. that's fine but the shops are filled with such clothes! There aren't any shops with just a regular length top/ hoodie or they have 'some cringe saying' according to dd. Anyone have any recommendations?

My DD is the same and ladt weekend we hit the shopping centres. Her favourites ended up being from the women's section in Bershka, zara, h&m and a few basics from Gap.

Online we have actually had really good experience with Temu

AutumnNymph · 11/07/2024 14:46

Must add that since last week she has been living in thr stuff we got from Bershka

I feel the pain, I really do! Having been brought up in the 90s, I had my period of wearing super short skirts. Urgh, remembering it now makes me want to puke.
My dad would not let me out of the house, until I wore something sensible.

I would tentatively advise (and I'm not an expert) to experiment with current array of fashion on oversized styles (men's sections, Mango, Zara has plenty), and maybe have a shopping day together to try different styles but make it modest. My mum did that, and, fortunately or unfortunately, it had turned me into a 'victorian' goth for a couple of years... It worked though!

If she likes just plain T-Shirts, M&S smallest women size should do the trick.

DD also got several T-shirts from New Look, but online order as out store is not really that good for choice.

H&M also does normally plain tops.

Boring everyday plain hoodies can be got online, eg https://www.safetecdirect.co.uk/Search/hoodie?F6=Hood

LifesTooShortForYourNonsense · 13/07/2024 16:24

We just shop the ‘boys’ stuff.

Branleuse · 13/07/2024 16:39

I don't understand the difficulty.
Primark, h&m, new look, jd sports, sports direct, all the supermarkets, Matalan, next, m&s, tkmaxx. They all have loads of normal tshirts.

I know brandy Melville is known for crop tops but they do also have plenty of stuff that isn't. Otherwise Uniqlo or urban outfitters

JanefromLondon1 · 13/07/2024 16:46

Zara. Loads of basics. Not everything is cropped.

The majority of the clothes are not aimed at teens.

Sorry didn't phrase that properly. The majority of the clothes that are not tight are not aimed at teens

What is she looking for then?

DD lived in plain adult size T-shirts at 13 with a bit of pattern or slogan thrown in.

Yes, I was going to suggest Primark and supermarkets too. I mostly wear plain t-shirts from these places, and Rapanui online. As a teenager I mostly lived in that kind of thing too, mixed with some band merch. I would never have worn a crop top as a teen, although I did get more confident when I was 18+ and wore some at uni/as a young adult until my tummy never went back to normal after DC2 when I abandoned them again.

PattyDuckface · 13/07/2024 20:57

Zara

twistyizzy · 13/07/2024 21:18

13 Yr old DD has just binned skinny jeans and is now only seen in oversized Ts, hoodie and jeans. River Island, Zara, Primary and New Look are her go to shops. She just buys everything 2 sizes too big!
I'm a 90s girl so actually like the baggy combats + jeans with a crop T but she refuses ☺️.
Went shopping yesterday and she got an Oxford Uni varsity top 3 sizes too big. To be fair it looks great on her.
Options are out there

GonnaBeYoniThisChristmas · 13/07/2024 22:22

Uniqlo. Sizes go up to age 15/16 (or of course can buy adult) and it’s great quality, fairly unisex and well priced.

MrsBungle · 13/07/2024 22:26

My dd lives in over size hoodies, t shirts and jeans. She shops at white fox, Zara and bershka mainly.

MrsBungle · 13/07/2024 22:26

Oh and Stussy t shirts.
