Child benefit (17 year old dc) - do I have to contact hmrc?

I was reading the news online and saw that parents of 16/17 years old have until the 31 August to let hmrc know whether their DC will carry on in full time education otherwise child benefit will stop. Is this just for DC in year 11 (16years old)? Or if you have a DC in year 12 (17 years old) you also have to contact them?

I had to confirm that my DC would be staying in education in the summer between year 11 and 12 ie. before he started his A levels, when he was 16.

I was sent a letter and a text message that I had to reply to.

is your year 12 in FT education?

At end y11 you would probably have filled in something saying 2 more years of study. If so then nothing to do end y12 if plans are the same.

They usually send you a letter to confirm with them.

Yes my dc is in year 12 doing 4 a levels. I did fill the form at the end of year 11 but was just wondering whether I would have to confirm again that dc is staying in full time education.

My child is in yr 11 and staying on for A Levels. So if you have a child currently in year 11, should you have already received a form? As I've had no communication and wasn't aware of this at all. I've moved address since originally claiming child benefit and haven't updated child benefit specifically - I'm assuming address etc all updates directly from HMRC? HMRC have my correct address and contact details.

I was in my Government Gateway account recently to check my NI pension contribution years and didn't see anything relating to this.
