How tired is your teen?

I'm really mystified by DD 's constantly need to just fall asleep, lunchtime, afternoon, evening her eyes are closing and she's struggling to stay awake. She's doing her GCSEs and is barely able to keep her eyes open.
It's gone on for a year and half now, falling asleep at 8 or 9:pm ...it's true that in year 10 she messed around and didn't work and has now spent an entire year studying really hard to make up for it. But I suspect it's more than that.
She's really happy with friends at school, laughs and smiles so much . But she is desperately unhappy with her appearance, has body dysmorphia and binges. I've only just found out.No exercise whatsoever. Sleeps in the tiniest box room rarely ventilated and refuses to let me go in.

Circulation problems blood seems to pool around her hands and feet. Cold hands. Blood tests 8 months ago re tiredness came back normal but slightly low on iron which she had supplements for.

Any advice? Is it just exam stress and self loathing mental stress?
GP beyond useless.
Thank you

circulation problems?? Does she have any health condition, this isn’t something ‘normal ‘ for a child to experience without cause

Doctors just don't offer an explanation for it! Run blood tests and then say all is ok...

My teen is very similar - doing GCSE's but struggling with fatigue a lot.

She has had all sort of blood tests over last few months apart from some anemia - and was prescribed folic acid, b12 and vitamin d from over counter, they have all come back clear.

I'd be interested in any other suggestions as it's making her very unhappy at the moment.

My DD is in middle of GCSES too and is exhausted. Especially with 2 on one day. Really struggling with revision as burnt out. MH definitely a factor too. All contribute to tiredness and fatigue. Really hard to keep them motivated!

Bit of an off description as really happy with friends but also desperately unhappy with appearance. Staying in room. Sounds like she is suffering with MH! Is she masking at school?

I’m encouraging regular breaks and Trying to get my DD outside and moving!

I have been dosing my DD up with WellTeen multi-vits, fruit, and biscuits!

She is also exhausted, your DD sounds like she needs a good run around the park or bike ride, but of course teens never want what's good for them!

Is your dd still taking Iron supplements? Might be an idea for Dr to repeat the prescription for a month or so, just to tide her over. Also Vit D is very effective - I use the spray.

It's so much pressure isn't it, poor kids, I do feel for them. When I did my O levels years ago, it wasn't such a massive deal, I spent most of my revision time sunbathing!

Thanks everyone, some really good suggestions on here and good to know we're not alone in this. I reckon it's burn out but as you say , trying to get her outdoors exposed to fresh air and moving is impossible!
TempersFuggit that made me laugh, I was the same during my O levels!
