Does anyone else hate being a taxi for your teen?
Mine doesn't talk in the car. Puts on her music. We don't talk much. Or she complains about her day.

She drip feeds me times to be picked up.

Or is this being a teen mum. Suck it up.

I wouldn’t allow this. Set some rules about the type of taxi driver you’re prepared to be for your DC.

Your teen is not paying for these lifts, so they should be respectful, engage in conversation, give clear times they need the lift, not have headphones on and say please and thank you when asking for, and having received the lifts.

You don’t have to view them as bad people, for their behaviour. Children need to be taught how to behave in all sorts of situations and why certain behaviour is required (in this case, respect and appreciation). Once you’ve explained the rules, if they don’t follow them, you can remind them that these are the terms of them receiving a lift. They don’t have to follow them, if they don’t want the lift.

It’s part of being a teen parent I’m afraid - fine if she doesn’t want to talk or needs to have a vent about her day but I would not accept having earphones or AirPods in whilst sat in the car with me. The height of rudeness in my opinion to do that around other people, it’s basic manners.

Also re: times always have a pre-negotiated time and place where she is to be picked up/dropped off and stick to it. If she can’t then no more lifts.
