When will ye grow out of this?!

Heโ€™s 14, all clothes are JD brands mercier, hoodeich, zavetti. His recent purchase is a hip pack ๐Ÿ™„

Iโ€™m really not trying to be judgemental, esp to his face!โ€ฆ DH on the other hand just takes the piss, which I wish he wouldnโ€™t do! But heโ€™s definitely trying to he someone heโ€™s notโ€ฆ itโ€™s a peer thing.

I hope it doesnโ€™t stick!

I assume that youโ€™re funding said JD clothes though OP?

Why would you buy clothes your dc donโ€™t like and wonโ€™t wear? My DDโ€™s are practically crippling me now theyโ€™ve discovered white fox. ยฃ90 for each plain hoodie and pants set with a bit of bubble writing on them ๐Ÿ™„

@Ihatethenewlook You do not have to buy your children expensive branded clothes if you cannot afford them.

Thereโ€™s a happy medium between donโ€™t like and wonโ€™t wear and non โ€˜chavโ€™ clothes. If DC are at an age where youโ€™re still buying all of their clothing for them then to some extent parents do have control over it, eg: I didnโ€™t want DD in skimpy crop tops at that age - so she wasnโ€™t. If DD wanted a ยฃ90 hoodie to grow out of and get ruined in a few months I certainly wouldnโ€™t have been buying it! Thankfully past that stage though (aged 19 now)

To answer your question rather than judging you - yes they do generally grow out of it. My Dd went through a stage of looking like a chavvy robber - tracksuits, trainers, massive chains and earrings but now she shops in Zara and is much more classic. Its just a phase they all want to look the same.
I do think a bit of gentle teasing doesn't hurt, we used to call her look the road mans girlfriend look and yes I used to buy the clothes because thats what she wanted and within reason they should have some choice over what they wear imo.

They do grow out of it - hang on in there! DS1 dressed like a skater boy when he was a teen over a decade ago (couldnโ€™t do much more than stand on the board) and DS2 is just coming out of his black Nike phase which went on for longer than I would have liked and made him look like a complete ned. Their friends all wore the same - m/c boys from naice homes, but you wouldnโ€™t have thought it to look at them. You have my sympathies!

Yes, I hid one a little while ago that had tonnes of replies; and now this appears.

Looking at the time stamps, this was started before the other one.

The other one was in AIBU though so "more traffic".

My 14 year old dresses like this too - I take the piss and say please don't rob anyone while you're out. It's the look of the day and it'll pass I'm sure when they realise they look like tits
