What to do for a 16th Birthday

DS is turning 16 so obviously it's not cool to have a party he says he'll be mocked even if it's something grown up like go carting.

So does anyone have any ideas on what to do with a few friends??
He wants a party but the house isn't big enough

TIA Smile

What does he want to do? DS went and hung out with his mates one day and then the day after we went out for a family meal in a place of his choice. He didn't want to do anything else.

My ds got an older friend to book an apartment in town and about 12 of them had a party. Would not recommend this as I wasn't happy, but it turned out ok.
I would say family meal out at a place of his choosing and maybe ask what he'd like as a present Football

We did a family meal one night, then he saw friends the following night at their house.
Ask him what he wants to do.

DS had a really good time at puttshack at one pointed a couple of months ago. They do food too.

Book him and some friends in the F1 arcade?

In our experience 16th birthdays were the start of the ‘proper’ parties. Most of DD’s year group just hosted a party/gathering at each of their homes with the usual junk food, music and parents providing a few cans of beer/cider/alcopops each

Ultimately though I’d leave it completely up to him - it’s his birthday after all!

Took my DD and a group of friends to a show in the west end with dinner first. They all loved it but they were girls.

Flossflower · 29/02/2024 03:04

We didn’t go with them but took them home afterwards.

None of mine did anything for their 16th birthday but any friends that did just had a group of friends over for pizza and beer type thing or a smallish party.

SandyWaves · 29/02/2024 09:15

Is this when drinking is permitted?

I still think 16 is young, especially with alcohol being provided by parents. I wouldn't be too happy about that for my DD.

MandyRiceDavies · 29/02/2024 09:17

DD had about 10 friends round for pizza and a film. They had a glass or two of prosecco.

OneToThree · 29/02/2024 10:58

I think 16 is a good age to introduce a couple of drinks (only if other parents are on board). Better than downing 2ltrs strong cider at the park 😆

ohdamnitjanet · 29/02/2024 11:11

Book an escape room, that age group tend to like them and can do well.

DD didn't want a party so we took her and 3 friends for a falconary experience.

But none of them are big party girls and enjoy more hanging around together.
