Regular nausea before periods have started

DD is 14 and hasn't started her periods yet. But for about a year she has regularly had really bad nausea. I realised it was happening at about the same point every month. (I had worried she was skipping school but I really don't think it is).

Has anyone else had this? Does it stop when periods start?

I've not been forcing her to go in on these days, but given she'll have to carry on when her periods do start, I'm wondering if I should. Or if she needs to see the GP

I’d go and see your GP about it, especially if it means that she can’t attend school. Have you tried her on OTC anti-nausea medication?

My DD often gets nausea and a big decrease in appetite in the days before her period. It does seem unusual though that your DD is having these symptoms considering she hasn’t started yet

Hopefully it will settle down.
I used to actually vomit on the first day of my period when I was a teen and was missing school because of it. Going on the pill (for that reason) stopped it.

Definitely try the anti nausea meds above poster mentions.

Please take her tot he Gp. I used to projectile vomit on the first day and had really heavy periods.

I finally solved it with the pill, much to my mother's horror. I was 17.

DD had a spiking temperature pretty regularly prior to her periods starting. The school nurse realised after a couple of visits that it was hormonal and went away after her periods started.

I had this as a teen.

It got worse after periods started and I regularly vomited during my period.

Anti histamines helped.

Thanks all. I will take her in. I'd wondered if I was linking it to periods without good reason, but sounds like that it's worth investigating.
