They were lovely little children and got on well. Now they hate each other - DS 15, DD 13. I wfh and dread when they come home from school, lots of arguing and shouting and screaming, rudeness and (recently) bad swearing. We have younger children and the older two were not exposed to this language when they were little. I look forward to when they go out or stay in their rooms, or fantasise about when they have left home, which is not a great way to feel about your kids. We do impose penalties for bad behaviour like removal of phone, devices, no pocket money etc, but once they have them back they are at it again. Is this normal, has anyone got any reassuring words or is it just us?!

Mine were so bad that they now don’t speak as adults. I’m not sure where it went wrong.

Are you able to take them out alone, one at a time and ask them why they're behaving like that and how they're feeling. We did this a bit lockdown by going throw MacDonalds drive through and parking up somewhere a bit nicer than the carpark and having a chat in the car.
