Periods

Hi

My daughter is 14 with special needs and has woken up to her period. She has accepted it really well so far. Shown her how to put a pad in and given her paracetamol for tummy ache.

I have a pack of period pants from primark which I'm thinking might be better for her especially for school.

Reading up on it she won't need to change it for 8 hours which covers school.

Does anyone have experiences of these pants and do they actually work?

She's gutted she cannot go swimming today now as I'm not prepared on that front. Looking to get period swimwear any recommendations?

Any advice greatfully received thank you

My daughter started her periods last week and used the period pants from
Primark and M&S she preferred the Primark ones. They seemed to suit her very well, she just changed them to a clean pair on a night.

Thank you for replying. She has just changed into a primark pair of period pants. We got a pack of 3 which won't be enough. I'm so relieved they have these options I wear them but hardly have periods myself now so not sure of the absorbency. So much easier if she doesn't need to change at school.

No idea about the primark ones but DD wears Modibodi (me as well) and she can go from 7am - 4pm with a heavy overnight one.

But DD has quite heavy periods the first 1-2 days.

So much easier to deal with than pads.

No way would I go 8 hours without changing period pants.

It would only work if she has a very light flow. Otherwise that would be really grim to sit in all day.

My daughter started at 11 😩 she also has special needs and I’ve been advised to put her on the pill to stop periods as she can’t deal with them herself but no wouldn’t leave it for that long

DD uses modibodi. Very happy with them. They're pricy though, so I've got her some cheaper primark ones too, which don't seem to be as well made.

DD wears hers with a pad to school. Takes pad out at lunchtime so she feels fresh. She then changes when she gets in from school and again at bed time.

My daughter with SEN, uses modi bodi , she likes the overnight boy shorts at bed time, never leaked . She likes the shorts or bikini bottoms for the day time , I have an app to track when she's due on and a couple of days before she will wear the night time pants .

After use , you rinse them and wash them with no fabric conditioner and then let air dry , we have 5 of each so we are of waiting for any to dry .

She wears them all day we no problems, no smells . Thank my lucky stars that they are available now as her changing pads at school would be difficult

I wear them and wear one pair during the day and one pair overnight. I use cheeky period pants and they will hold a heavy flow and do a range of styles. I also have got M&S ones but they are not as thick.
