Behaviour

My 12 year old son was bullied in primary school.
Since he’s started at secondary school his behaviour has gone down hill. The latest episode was I was called into school on Friday where I was told he was being suspended for 2 days for a few reasons. He was caught running in the corridors with his friends which is strictly forbidden he then spent 25 minutes telling stories as to why he was in the corridor
innthee first place! He was rude to a janitor(something about his receding hairline) it was said in a jokey way the janitors often joke about with the students. However it’s completely unacceptable.
Then today I got a notification from his English teacher saying he had called her sir
during The lesson. She answered I don’t have a moustache yet!
But he said it again and she was really annoyed about it and quite rightly so. I don’t understand why he continues with this behaviour I mean we were at school on Friday to talk about his behaviour!!! I’m at the point where I don’t know what to say about this latest episode

While I am not condoning or justifying that behaviour, it does sound quite typical naughtiness in a lot of secondary schools (and could be worse!). Do you think he could be trying to fit in? He has maybe worked out that playing the clown wins him attention and peer approval. Could that be what is going on?

Have you asked him why he's behaving like this? If he was bullied in primary school, he may be playing up in order to improve his status with the other kids. Maybe with a particular group of kids, especially if he thinks they are likely to bully or tease him otherwise.
