Therapy for anxious teen

Won't bore on about the details here but looking for advice/recommendations about some therapy for my 15yo daughter.

We're in a fairly good place despite some recent school/friendship issues but she has panic attacks in certain situations.

She gets all shaky and sick. She's been like this for years and it's quite irregular so thought she'd grow out of it.

Anyway I suggested we get her some CBT type help and she is keen.

I have contacted a local therapist but haven't heard back (recommended by a school mum).

I'm just wondering about going for an online type service?

Obviously will only get accredited professionals and pay privately.

Hi. We never tried online but I can see it would work for some.

We had some success with Equine Assisted Therapy re recommended to me on MN. But DD is animal mad. It is more expensive, but was helpful to DD. It was basically counselling in a field of horses.

Otherwise BCAP website.

Thanks so much. Ironically I'm a riding instructor and I do know someone who does equine therapy but DD doesn't like horses!

Am checking the bacp website. Hadn't thought of that to actually find someone though. Thankyou

Could you contact your GP for a recommendation?

Our GP recommended a very good counselling service when we asked about it for our DD. We had to wait a while to get to the top of the waiting list but I preferred knowing that the counsellors delivering the service were approved by our GP Practice.

@ricecakesareshit Highly recommend Reflexology!

Where are you based? My daughter has seen someone who has helped her with anxiety and negative thinking. We're in the SE

Thanks everyone. The therapist recommended to me by a local mum called and we have booked an appointment.

I agree about GP recommended therapists but our surgery is AWFUL. You can't get through, no appointments etc...

I can't even remember the last time she went to the GP.

I've had to pay privately for my own gynae issues so I think we're sort of conditioned to pay for stuff that we don't want to wait for.

Anyway - fingers crossed this will be the beginning of her healing Smile
