Both me and my DS's mate live rurally. There are a few buses, but mostly they need a parent to drop and collect them in town. It's a 20-30 min round trip.

Apparently DS2s friend's Mum works nightshifts and is thus available all day at the beck and call of her kids to drop and collect them from town. She doesn't need any sleep.

I became aware of this super Mum when I got exasperated with DS2 for not being able to tell me rough timings for being out. I know it's very uncool to have to plan when you are a teenager.

I work (from home), but do pop into town most days, today to collect my groceries, often for a swim or to run an errand. Obviously I want to time this with dropping or collecting DS.

Half term - day 1 (of 14)

And who will grow up to be a self sufficient and confident young man?
My dd is very self sufficient at 16...her bf rings his dm during her working day for praise for making scrambled eggs...
