Can anyone recommend a good face wash/moisturiser?

DS has frequent breakouts of spots and also gets a lot on his back.

I was looking at cerave anti blemish and Clinique anti blemish. Don't want to aggravate his skin with harsh products.

Anyone any advice 🤞🏼

Hey,
When I was that age and had acne, the only medicine which helped was Zineryt. It’s a topical solution which you can directly apply to the skin. That got rid of most of the spots; I then started using regular face wash (just normal Boots brand). Exfoliating helped a lot. Cerave is a good brand, so might be worth a shot.

Cetaphil (from Superdrug, Boots, etc.) is a good quality product (will last much longer than Clinique!). It's especially important not to dry his skin out (Cetaphil do a gentle, non-foaming face wash) and encourage him to moisturize with non-comedogenic product with SPF (e.g. Olay day cream SPF15 also good value).

There is also a Salicylic cream available from Amazon (V55 Max) which is great, but initially needs to be used carefully - read the reviews.

But if it's on his back too, it sounds like "more" than just minor teenage acne so, to be honest, I'd encourage you to get him to visit the GP for a prescribed Retinoid gel (e.g. Retin-A) which he can use alongside the Cetaphil, Cerave, etc. This will also put him on his GP's radar in case a dermatology referral is needed.

P.S. I'm saying "good value" because these products have quite a large amount, ideal for teenagers who might use "too much" of a pricier product 😂

Go to the GP you will save yourself a fortune in potions and you will get on top of the problem a lot quicker.

Absolutely GP.
My DD's bf had the same issue, really badly and only GP help worked.
