So my DS is 11.5 so not quite a teen but pretty tall at 5ft 4. He weighed himself tonight and is 7stone 8 the scales just happened to be out and he did it iut of curiosity i guess. I've not mentioned anything to him of course but noticed the last few weeks he has some dimpling around his chest and side of stomach, not particularly noticeable but wondering if he is becoming overweight

He has always been fairly stocky but never been overweight, he does love sweet stuff but he will eat the healthier foods too. I've been overweight all my adult life and so keen for him not to have this battle. He plays sport outside of school and is fairly active but he would be keen to be healthier

On a side note I've been looking into the damaging effects of sugar/fructose and want to try and ingrain some more good habits before it is too late!

Does anyone have any experience or advice they could offer please?

NHS says 5'4" 7st8lbs at age 11.5 is very healthy. You can check yourself on the NHS BMI calculator.

Be very careful about projecting your weight worries/history onto your son.

Healthy meals + some snacks + exercise is ideal.

Thanks @MidnightOnceMore , I guess more wondering if this dimpling is the start of his chest growing more due to puberty or something to he concerned about. I am very concious not to speak about my weight or go too mad about food choices but it's a fine line as he would eat junk most of the time if allowed. I tend to just not have too much in the house and offer plenty of healthy stuff. It's things like fizzy pop and extra bowls of cereal I'm keen to try and avoid for both my dc to be honest but it's sometimes hard to avoid
