Jobs for 16 year olds?

Can anyone advise if there is anywhere who will hire 16 year old for part time work?

My DD turns 16 next week and is searching around for work - fighting shy of a paper round & tbh I don't blame her.

Babysitting? I did that from 15 and was lucky as the people I babysat for played in a band so I was needed on a regular basis.

Its hard these days to get retail jobs, the Saturday job that I had from aged 16 seems much rarer- they want kids to work over the day a week and that's not ideal from a 6th form / college point of view.

Should be loads of jobs now, the university students have left or are about to.

I heard staff at Sainsbury's talking about this only yesterday, they need new people quickly in the run up to Christmas.

DD1 got a job by October at Nando's and she only turned 16 in the July before.

And she only did weekend shifts - 10 hour contract.

Most big retail places want them both Sat and Sun, plus extra hours over Xmas and busy times like bank holidays. Plus with the "Over 25 ID" it can all become a bit complicated as they're not old enough to verify it. Supermarkets busier dept is online and the pickers start at 6.00am, that's a pain for parents having to drop them off that early every single weekend.

As PPs have advised, coffee shops and cafes usually hire at 16. Are you near a National Trust property or similar? Their cafes and onsite facilities usually have young staff 16+

My almost 16yr old is a waiter in a restaurant at the weekend. Most teenagers in this town work in hospitality if they have a job
