How to stop overthinking this (I feel silly)

DD18 finished a levels a few months ago and told me that next weekend she'll be meeting up with a guy from sixth form.

I replied with "Lovely. Have a good time. Where are you going?"

DD replies that he has planned a day out in Kensington Gardens in London. DD said "oh he's a got a big crush on me mum, bless him."
DD told me that it's not a date but just them meeting as friends.
I feel silly that I'm thinking that this boy will act in an "untoward" manner as he's chosen a location that would be suitable for a date.
I know that in all probability they are going to have a lovely day out in London and enjoy themselves.

Obviously I kept all these thoughts to myself and just told DD "have fun, enjoy yourself. Check for tube strike"

He's chosen a public place though, so I'd see that as less worrying than if he'd simply invited her to his place? Just because he has a crush on her doesn't mean he'll act on it.

I'd be more worried about mine managing to get there/home in one piece, navigating trains and tube, but we're pretty rural and can count on one hand the number of times they've been to London!

Have you other forms of anxiety at the moment? It seems like an over reaction, your DD is an adult and Kensington Gardens is a very sedate sort of location for a meet up.

I'd be more concerned about DD agreeing to meet someone who has a big crush on her whilst not interested romantically in him, it seems mean to get his hopes up by agreeing to meet.

Is she very sheltered as this sounds like a massive overthinking?
If she is very sheltered or not been on dates before (even though they are meeting as friends) I'd be talking to her about boundaries, consent etc. DD's had long known at that age that they could bail or say no in any situation, call a cab or me etc

DD isn't sheltered at all. A very outgoing girl.

I'm just over thinking and being silly.

Yes I did overreact. DD told me that they had a fun day and she enjoyed herself. She told me it was obvious that the boy was very excited to see her and hang out with her

No harm done :)
