J20 - why do kids but also teens love it ?

Was chatting with my cousin who has three boys, 17, 14, 14 and we got onto the topic of the enduring appeal of J20. So thought I'd put it out here. Why do you buy it, from a psychological angle? She says she just gets it on autopilot in ASDA but that the kids love it and really ask for it in the pub. Yes I know it's sweet and whatever but there's something about it as a brand or product that I can't put my finger on. Is it because it makes them feel like they're drinking beer?

It’s just fruit juice nothing anywhere like beer

I guess the glass bottle just makes it feel a bit more ‘special’ for them.

Yeah it's this, bit more grown up than a soft drink in a glass with a straw.

It's extremely sweet and fruity, very much like Sunny Delight was back in the day. It's also colourful and comes in a fancy bottle. And it's not cheap. All these things appeal to youngsters.

It's totally overrated. I much prefer to have an orange juice with lemonade. Really refreshing!

I have two boys. One would always choose a J2O in the pub (I don't buy them for home) and one would prefer a coke. It's just personal preference isn't it? The one who prefers fruit juice to drink, unsurprisingly chooses fruit juice when we're out, and the one who only drinks water at home has a coke as a treat when he's out.

A pub /restaurant treat. Glass bottle and mix of flavours beats standard fruit juice.

I would never buy it for home so yes it feels like a treat drink for the kids when we go out. My daughter doesn't like anything fizzy and I think a J2O just feels more grown up than a glass of apple juice? It's literally nothing like beer!

It was originally intended to be a grown up soft drink so in a branded glass bottle that blended in with the alocopops and with a choice of flavours.

Kids/teenagers like the sweetness and the grown up attributes.
