Testosterone puberty injections

Hi
My son is 15.3 and he hadn't started puberty and I noticed one day when I collected him from school that he was now the shortest person when he's always been the tallest amongst peers. Fast forward to now, he has just finished having his 6th testosterone injection. He had a course of 6 over 6 months. They have had very little affect. He has been tested for various syndromes etc. So they are all ruled out. I'm worried about him. The affect it has on his confidence etc. He's not miserable but I really hoped they would kick start something. We are due to go back to the consultant soon.. my question is has anyone's son been through this and did he need a second course of injections? Thanks so much

Bless him, has he got 0 signs of puberty at all? Has his bone development been checked? My son is also 15 and undergoing injections

Thanks for your reply. He had blood tests at the GPs then referred to endocrinologist. It's such a small amount he is given each month. A few hairs but his voice hasn't broken. He is steadily growing taller. But according to his growth chart red book, he has fallen below the trajectory he should be on.. I just feel for his mental health and wellbeing he needs a real kickstart and not this small amount every month. Feel for him so.much. x

It could be he’s just an extremely late bloomer, was you or his dad late into puberty? Even just getting a few hairs and getting talker is a sign, even if it is slow. How does he feel about it?

His Dad was within the normal time frames. My brother was late, like 16 and I was also late starting periods etc. So it's a family trait. I think the initial spurt of hairs and growth though was due to an administrative error. The Dr wrote a prescription for the nurse. He was basically given 6 months worth in 1 injection. The Dr called and admitted a mistake etc. But actually that was the only time he saw anything change. Bless his heart. It's so difficult when you are in the situation he can't see it ending.

Bless your son. I was on the cusp of taking my son to the doctors but then his voice dropped- think it was around age 15 and a half, possibly slightly later. His face shape and height only really changed after 16. he's now approaching 17 (in August) and broadening out- shoulders etc. So it does happen but feels epic while you're waiting. I was a late bloomer and I think his father was too. he's fine now- still looks young- but he's always looked young!! also youngest in his year which hasn't helped. I have read experiences on here where boys have continued to develop and grow even up to their 20s so there may be a way for our boys to go yet. Sorry no advice on the injections, just wanted to offer solidarity.

just to clarify, when I say he's fine now though still looks young, i mean my son, not his father- just in case that confused you. his father doesn't look young, ha!
