Opinions On Monster Energy Drinks & Similar

I’m really not keen on buying Monster drinks for DD14. She potentially has ADHD so I do wonder if those will possibly make it worse? Also it’s not just the caffeine content. I think they have all sorts of other stuff in them too. She always starts arguing & throwing loads of so called “ facts” at me about energy drinks when I refuse to buy them. I used to get her one weekly. She says things like “You do realise I have older friends who can steal it for me & they have before”. I walked away this morning as it’s just not worth another yelling match.
What does everyone think about these drinks?

I read an article about an experiment they did in a school. They took a class of teenage pupils and gave half of them a can of an energy drink. They then sent them to their next lesson. After the lesson, they asked the teacher to say which pupils she thought had been given the energy drink. The teacher was 100% correct! The deterioration of behaviour was that obvious.

They're pure white and over 16 for a reason

Shite why won't my phone swear?!

I've always avoided them and think they're extremely unhealthy. However I've been doing some research lately about ADHD and caffeine as my 12yo DS is suspected ADHD, although he's inattentive type, and I read that caffeine can help them to focus in exams and can regulate them. It would depend on the type of ADHD and the child. Even with ADHD medication, different people react differently and it can take a while to find which one works best.

DF used to drink monster daily but he stopped drinking them as he had heart palpitations. So I would avoid them as much as possible for that reason but it might not necessarily make her behaviour worse.

Also, some people with ADHD find that caffeine has the opposite effect on them and makes them sleepy.
