Teen with mental health issues

I have a friend whose son has been displaying as potentially autistic and/or ADHD for years but it was never identified & ended up in a number of different primary schools. Now at secondary school his behaviour has turned violent & he is no longer attending school & has attacked his parents & destroyed the family home. The triggers appear to be when anyone challenges his behaviour. He has been staying with his father due to violent behaviour towards his mother. Despite contact requested since starting secondary school he is still awaiting an assessment for ASD/ADHD or just generally his mental health. He has now attacked his father & the only option is to be placed into care or back with his mother. Is there any emergency route to a mental health assessment for children? It is a worry that once he turns 16 he could end up in the criminal justice system due to lack of support now. Does anyone know what help there is available?

Ime your local council have an Early Intervention team.. They have been of support to us during difficult times with dd's mh and ds's undiagnosed SN... Ask them for help. It isn't ss btw...

i think the LA teams have been involved, early year’s & intervention but nothing seems to happen. I know there are waiting lists for everything but just can’t believe that despite what is happening & police being involved on several occasions they can’t arrange for any kind of emergency assessment so that he can start getting the support he needs before something really bad happens & he ends up getting arrested. He’s a really bright boy & I feel so sad that he is being let down.
My own son has ND, he was referred for ASD at primary school & is now awaiting result of ADD assessment. I feel guilty that his school were proactive in referring him & yet this boys school just seemed to be constantly punishing him without questioning why he was behaving as he was & now we are in this situation where it has escalated out of hand. It must be so stressful for him.
