Any ideas for healthy snacks that are also filling

DS is 12 and seems to have hollow legs atm

He has a huge cooked lunch at school but is sooooo hungry when he has had his sandwich and fruit for tea

So he needs something else but I am stuck for ideas

I know that he would be happy to eat crisps and biscuits etc but I want to have some healthy stuff apart from fruit and bread

Thanks

hi. i saw a nutritionist lady on tv who said that the secret to filling up hungry teen boys was lots of carbohydrates for energy, but more about lots of protein (mainly meat!)for the growing thing, so, a great meal was something like spag bol, or steak and jacket pot, a proper kind of well balanced meal....not just for health, but for hunger.
hth.....

when i said growing thing, i meant the thing about growing, not that your lad was a "thing" lol

Crikey, they can't half eat. when ds 14 goes through these growth spurts (he's currently 6ft tall at just 14, surely it will end soon)It's like a running buffet all evening.

Cheese on toast big favourite here.
Massive bowls of cereal
Soup and bread/sarnies
I find sponge pudding and custard finally fills all the final little holes eventually (not very healthy, but does put a full stop do it at last!!)

Our school meals sound huge and varied but they're actually quite small portions. Ds1, 14 has sausage sandwich for breakfast, BIG packed lunch at school, cheese and crackers when he gets in from school then huge tea. In between he has chocolate, crisps, fruit, cereal bars, you name it! He's 5'4", 7 stone, size 9 feet, and v skinny!! He puts away more than me or his dad!!
