Really worried about dd who is nearly 14 but quite a young one in terms of boys/make up/socialising.
Since covid she has been unsettled at school, moved to high school and was on a reduced timetable as just not coping there. Academically very able, no concerns there but socially just struggles- doesn’t fit in, no friendship group, one friend who blows hot and cold. Very talented at a particular sport but struggles to attend and worries about competing (it’s a competitive sport so no recreational only option) but I’m worried if she stops that she has nothing. She won’t try new activities as she is too anxious. Her world feels just too small, but I think she feels safer that way so no motivation to try anything new etc.
Help? Would CBT or therapy be any good? Or has anyone else found a magic cure or even a roadmap out of this…
She has some sensory issues as well as eating issues also- which I have a GP appt for… should I mention her anxiety too? Her periods are horrendously heavy and she definitely gets hormonal too… it sucks being a teenager doesn’t it?

My daughter is the same just turned 14, young for her age, massively struggles with the school, she is on the waiting list for an Autism diagnosis, what do the SENCO say at school ?

No SENCO involvement- time off has just been approved by guidance teachers and no one has ever suggested SEN…
We do have ASD in the family though… now you’ve got me thinking…

I read recently, though god knows where so please don't ask me for a link, that girls with ASD often have heavy periods and struggle with hormonal changes.

I would talk to school tomorrow about an ASD assessment.
