When did puberty start in your boys?

Hi all.

An off the cuff comment from my mum has me wondering if I should take my 14 YO twins to see the GP as I'm unsure whether they're starting puberty or not. They're both shorter than me still, (5ft 4) no voice breaking or particularly noticeable bodily changes yet. Few armpit hairs and they've both put on a bit of podge which is recognisable as puppy fat!

What do you think? I'm not expecting them to get hugely tall as their dad isn't and my family are all on the short side, and if they take after the men on my side then height will be slow and steady gains rather than shooting up at some point.

But I just can't help thinking maybe I'm doing them a disservice, just in case?

DS reached 15 and had shown no signs of puberty at all. We were referred by the GP to a paediatician who asked lots of details about BOTH DH and me - when we reached puberty etc, and about our siblings. Basically she wasn't worried because there was a history of late puberty in my family. She did however give DS a course of testosterone to 'bump start' puberty, and this worked.
She was also more interested in height/growth rather than body hair.
I would start worrying at 15, not 14.

My son is 14 and hasn't really started puberty yet. He doesn't have any underarm hair or any body hair really. He is small, about the size of his 12 year old cousin (also a boy). I also wonder at what point do we go to the GP

My DS 13 and he had a growth spurt his voice is starting to break. Haven't noticed armpit hair.

My three boys all went through it between 13 and 14. Their voices broke and by the time they reached 14 they were all taller than me, and I'm 5'10.

I really wouldn't worry at this stage, there's a wide range of normal in boys between about 11 and 16. A bit of armpit hair is a sign things are happening.

My 16 year old was about 9 when he showed early signs ,at 16 he has a ful! Beard ,hairy chest his voice broke around 14 ,he looks like he's in his 20s ! On the other hand my nearly 13 year old is tiny and showing no signs ,but he's disabled with a rare chromosome disorder,so I'm thinking that's the reason he will be late ,the paediatrician etc, isn't concerned yet.
