and you used to go to friends houses or M&t
be honest now did they have cake and biscuits.
mine did. I can remember taking a chocolate cake to my friends and us ALL eating it.
and biscuits were the hi light of M&T

Oooh yes definitely cakes and/or biccies. Those bite-size thingies they do in M&S were VERY popular!

minorityrules · 13/02/2008 18:27

And squash!

Life was good!

2shoeswithheartson · 13/02/2008 18:28

RustyBear · 13/02/2008 18:38

Yes
and yes

minorityrules · 13/02/2008 18:39

absolutely!

We even had biscuits in the house, in a biscuit tin, that they had (have) access to at all times and some of them were chocolate ones!

MaureenMLove · 13/02/2008 18:41

I remember dd being cute and friendly at aged 2, going round to everyone parent in a toddler group, trying to get them to give her a bite of their hot cross bun! Bless her, I still have to watch my food like a hawk!

GetOrfMoiLand · 13/02/2008 18:46

The thought of lifting my daughter up takies me back, she is so tall I haven't been able to pick her up for years, let alone carry her. I used to carry her about all over the place because I didn't like pushchairs (I had biceps of steel!)

Putting a pair of socks on my 3 year old niece the other day really took me back. Do you remember chasing your toddlers all over the place, begging them to keep still for just one second so you could get them dressed!

I used to love shopping for little clothes as well, tint little cardigans and trousers. No me and dd are the same size (ish), her clothes come from adult shops and all the fun is gone

2shoeswithheartson · 13/02/2008 18:55

oh don't.
I just found a book with a pic of dd (12 now) and ds (16 now) she was about 3 and he was 5 ooooooooh they were so diddy.

Oh this is so sad. Am nearly in tears remembering when my ds now 14 caught me a Jiggltpuff on his Pokemon game and called it Mummy

When he smelled of toast and sunshine, even in the winter

When he was all elbows and knees and wanting cuddles.

Miss my little boy lots. A 6ft alien has hijacked him. 2 years ago I was still mummy, now I'm "mother" with a sigh and rolled eyes

Should i get over it?

fizzbuzz · 13/02/2008 19:38

Jigglypuff of course (a small cute pokemon!)

Twiglett · 13/02/2008 19:41

please don't do this

fizzbuzz · 13/02/2008 19:44
RustyBear · 13/02/2008 19:49

DD will be 18 on Sunday...

GetOrfMoiLand · 13/02/2008 19:51

waaaaah

It is a very small leap from being the centre of their world, to being someone theyr can roll their eyes at, and say (derisively) OK mum.

Mind you, I don't miss all the nappies and the mind games at mother and toddlers groups

fizzbuzz · 13/02/2008 19:52

Why do they have to grow up? ....and they cost so damn much

GetOrfMoiLand · 13/02/2008 19:53

yes

I went shopping today and bought dd a stupid nice hoodie which cost £39.

What did I get? Oh, yes, a top for a tenner in the sale and some Primark knickers.

fizzbuzz · 13/02/2008 19:54

Yes, derisive just about sums them up. Because of course we know NOTHING AT ALL and can tell them NOTHING, because they know absolutely everything

shabster · 13/02/2008 19:56

My DS1 turned 26 December last year. In June he will become a Daddy for the first time. Aaaaawwwww my danny a daddy!

He was the sweetest little lad - no seriously he was, not a bad teenager but what an amazing man!! So proud of him.

Loshad · 13/02/2008 21:40

it's taken under six months here to go from mummy to rolls eyes and "whatever mum".
His school report arrived today, he said the good bits were rubbish and gay, the bad bits he laughed at - deep joy

2shoeswithheartson · 13/02/2008 21:58

oh but isn't winding them up such fun.
i have a background on the pc with AX7 on it just to annoy him.

as for hoodies. I now get his from Zavvi(virgin) £22
after spending £40 on a metallica one that is brill but to warm so he won't wear it.

mumblechum · 14/02/2008 12:05

Yes, and the consumption of biscuits and cakes has only increased.

My ds calls me Bils (short for Mumbles) as he's too old for mummy and mum doesn't sound right apparently.

They're so sure they're right about everything. Last night he had to write about lent and insisted it has something to do with Mothering Friday (?). I just gave up in the end so there it is in his essay.

themoon66 · 14/02/2008 19:18

Mine woke me up at 1.30am this morning... DH rolled over and said 'its your turn'.... just as though the last 15 years never happened.

Only this morning, he didn't want to get into bed with me or need a drink, he was asking if it was okay to ring his girlfriend in New York!!!

random · 14/02/2008 19:56

Getting misty eyed here..my sweet little pokemon loving boy has turned into a lanky 15 year old emo who stays in bed all day and still eats all the biscuits and chocolate in the house

Pimmpom · 15/02/2008 12:50

LOL at themoon.

It's so weird that we can remember those early years so well and they have moved on.

I think I'm having trouble catching up

RustyBear · 17/02/2008 20:33

I've been doing a lot of 'catching up' today - it's DD's 18th birthday & I've been looking through some old pictures (see my profile)
The pictures really do bring it back, I can't believe how long ago it was (or that I was ever as slim as in the first picture...)
