Hi,

It has been a long time since I have been on here but I am in a bit of a loss as to what to do so hoped I can reach out to parents in a similar situation. Mr youngest DD has a very sensitive personality (like me), is an over-achiever, everyone loves her and she is so confident with teachers/ coaches/ adults in general. I have noticed a decline in her moods - her lows seem to come around more often and last longer. Yesterday morning when we were waiting for her school bus she burst into tears and told me she doesn't know why she is so sad all the time. This set alarm bells ringing for me. I spoke to her tutor who has also noticed she can be quite withdrawn and down at times and said she would keep an eye on it. She is having ELSA sessions already and I have offered to take her to private counselling - we have a lovely lady who helps me and her elder sister (ED) but she has declined. Should I be looking to take her to the GP? I feel really helpless right now.

Sorry to hear OP!
It is hard to watch them struggle
Could she be burning out from all the achieving at school?
Does she get enough rest and time to relax.
Perhaps over the Easter break try and do some fun things just with her.

Puberty hitting and possibly some PMT as well maybe. Hormones can make such a difference to mood.

We emailed the school and DD was given sessions with a school counsellor. It really helped
