Hi, I'm new here and really just wanting some advice.
My son Daniel turned 13yrs in October last year, he always been tall but nothing concerning. I was curious in December as he seemed taller suddenly and his trainers were tight. He was measured at 6ft 1 and size 10 feet. Lately he's been more tired and says he aches. He plays rugby but only once a wk. Being curious again I measured him last night, he's now 6ft 3 and his size 10 trainers are too small.
So my question is, Should I been concerned at how quickly he's growing?

You might want to get the post edited to remove your sons name as it might be identifying if anyone you know is on here.

boys can grow very fast, I have girls (and my brothers short) so haven’t seen it first hand. But dd1s friends brother was like this at his age. He’s now 17 and 6ft6 but does seem to have more or less stopped now.

if he keeps growing this fast then may be worth getting him checked, but it’s most likely just a big growth spurt and he’ll slow down.

@SoniaKing if you have revealed your name and your son's name I would get them removed. We tend to use generic terms such as DS (darling son) to not reveal personal information. If that is the case report your thread and get it pulled.

Boys do tend to shoot up, it would sometimes depend on how tall the parents are although in Dh's case he is almost 6'3" and his Dad (definitely his Dad) is 5'6" and his Mum was a teeny 5'2". He peaked at 14 but my lovely MIL said she was buying new school trousers all the time as he shot up between 12 and 14.

If you are concerned you could always take him the the GP to get him checked over. Growing is tiring business but keep an eye on his energy levels.
