Young teens going out for birthday party

DD (14) has been invited to a party which starts at lunch time and ends at 11pm. She's been to gatherings at this friend's house before, and parents seem nice. There are quite a few kids going and plan is to catch the bus into the city centre and then staying out until 9pm when they will catch the bus back again to the birthday girl's house. It's minus temperatures outside at the moment and dark at 4.30pm. All her friends are going so don't want her to be left out, but also don't like the idea of her walking around outside in the dark and cold until 9pm...

I presume they aren't going to be "walking around in the dark and cold" are they ?
Surely they are going in to town for a meal or to go bowling or ice-skating or to the pictures or for some purpose?

it can be daunting , the concept of a young teen out at night , however I am getting the impression she will be with a large group of friends so i would say the risk of anything happening decreases - i wouldn’t want her wandering around alone but in a group of around 5 people i wouldn’t have too much concern

She’s 14 - let her go and enjoy life

What are they doing until 9pm? If it was wandering about no, if it was a meal/bowling/cinema yes. My 14 year old went out into the nearest city for a birthday party this week. They went bowling and then for a meal.

What are they doing in the city centre?

If she's is with friends then you have to let her go. 14 is the age to start having independence and 9pm isn't late
