DS2 is 12 years (13 in March) and hasn't yet had his growth spurt. He's around 155 cm and probably about 34 kilos so still a little boy really! He is growing normally but no signs of puberty yet. Just trying to remember when they start growing rapidly. DS1 is 14 and I think it was around now or at some point in year 8 that he starting growing rapidly (he's now 175 cm and still growing). DS2 is getting a bit worried as quite a few of his friends have started growing. Just wondering what the average age is for puberty to start in boys.

My DS is 14 and still small compared to a lot of his year. Was only saying to my husband at DS football match the other day that there's such a wide range in height in the lads at this age. Some are huge tall and stocky and others are small like little boys!

My DS not that bothered but I notice in football the lad that he's marking could look gigantic beside him!!!

My just 15 year old hasn’t started yet. Very difficult for him - especially during PE. Over the summer, his feet have gone from being tiny to larger than mine… (nothing else has changed- I don’t remember him ever having a 'spurt'). I hope for his sake that it’s true about late bloomers…

Their feet are the first thing to grow in a growth spurt, so it's coming! They grow from the outside in, so feet and hands, then forearms and shins, then upper arms/shoulders and thigh bones, then trunk! I find it fascinating!
