My daughter is 11 years and 10 months and started bleeding today. Shes only 4ft 10 at the moment. Im so nervous thats the end of her growing? She suffers enough trying to fit in with her peers. Shes more on the shy side. Dont want her suffering in the future.
Is this very early to get a period? I was 13.5

I started at 13 and stopped growing by then but was already 5’9!
DD started at 13, she’s now 17 and has grown at least another 6”

According the Google that’s pretty bang on average age to start

Specialist told me that girls continue to grow 2 years after starting periods.

I started age 11 and never grew another inch. I was 5'3 then, and still 5'3 now. So this is absolutely not true.

I was 13.5, 4'11/5'0 and had only just hit six stone rather than seven as some PPs have suggested as normal for them to start. I ended up at just under 5'4 as an adult though, and I didn't finish growing until 6th form. 11 is very much a usual age though and definitely no guarantee she'll be stuck at this height for life!

The 2 years after getting their period is a time of fast growth, after which things tend to drop off and they will be at or near their adult height. When DD got her period she was 14 and still tiny compared to her friends, now 18 and a very normal 5’6
