Anyone got Qustodio for the kids?

I haven't got DD13 a mobile yet, still on the fence with it but I'm starting to see how isolating she's feeling when she must be the only one in her school who hadn't got one.

She's going to need one for her GCSE Photography next year so will HAVE to get her one. Not going to splash out on one, one of my old ones will have to do.

I've got a few questions as I'm a complete techie when it comes to mobiles and contracts! What's the best package, network and does Qustudio allow me to lock her phone when her screen time is over? Is she able to fiddle around and disable the lock feature after I've put one on? Can I see her browsing history even after it's been deleted? Can I block certain words, videos and apps from getting onto her phone? Gradually, I'll be able to relax the rules of I see she's being responsible and sensible with it. I don't want to police her. I know girls this age just love taking zillions of photos and that's fine. I just don't want her to get carried away with silly apps that steals her valuable time.

Thank you.

Never heard of it sorry OP. We've got Apple phones and if you set them up with a child account, you can limit screen time, lock their phones and approve apps.

We usually have them a cheap phone first with the promise of a better one if they looked after it.

I used it for years for DS and it is excellent

I use Google family link which seems to do the same thing. Although to be honest, she's 14 now so the "rules" are very relaxed compared to when she got a phone at 11, but it means I can see what she's downloading and using and we have a chat if her screen time means she's not getting school work done.

And I didn't get a contract phone. Bought a Samsung phone for around £150 two years ago (she had an old one of mine for a year first but the storage ran out very quickly) and then a SIM only contract for £10 a month linked to mine so I can gift extra data. We're on EE because it's the only network that works well in our village.

Also, if she's doing GCSE photography, check somewhere like CEX for second hand phones or cameras.

we've got it - it's pretty good but I'm not sure if I will renew when the year is up, might move on to Family Link or similar. She's 11 and has had her first phone for about three months. You can lock when screen time is up but we've had occassional issues with it locking when she hadn't actually used the time so I've removed that function for the moment (we tightened it up for a few weeks when we had a behaviour issue and it really did the trick!).

I like that it messages when she looks at something we've put on the amber/red list (can't quite remember what their terminology is). And I like that I can check exactly what she's looking at online (though I try to trust her and just look at anything that's flagged up).

I think overall I would recommend it, it's easy to use and effective, but it depends how in depth you want it to be. If not too much, Family Link might be ok?

We’ve got it on my sons tablet. It’s pretty good!
