Summer Camps - have your DC done any good ones?

I’d love to send my DC (13&15) to a summer camp but I have no idea where to start. They are quite active and will give anything a go so it’s more important that it is fun and engaging.

Anyone with experience/suggestions/recommendations?

Whereabouts in the UK are you? How far would you travel?

PersonaNonGarter · 02/06/2022 10:59

Thanks for reply! I am in Scotland but we can travel anywhere in the UK.

I’d like somewhere they could stay for a week.

My DC have been to Campquest and really loved it - went every year until they were too old.

Mine have been here and loved it. They did the learn to sail weeks but other friends have sent children to the multi activity week and been impressed.

If they're quite active have they considered joining air / army / sea cadets? They would need to commit to attending the bi weekly parade nights but they do a variety of weekend and week camps and they're amazing value for money as they're subsidised by the armed forces (no expectation to enlist afterwards!). Depending on which they join, they could have chance to do things like fieldcraft, sailing, flying, shooting as well as voluntary work. They'll also learn teamwork, leadership, first aid etc skills.

If you're looking for a stand-alone week then perhaps something like ATE Superweeks.
