Paper rounds

DS 13yo has decided to take on a paper round. I'm really proud of him for being proactive, but also worried he will find it hard and want to give in after a short time 🙈 any tips to help him out? He said the bag kept rubbing on his back tyre, and I don't think it is good for his back to have a one shoulder bag with a big weight in it - any suggestions of alternatives? It's roughly 23 papers on weekdays but more on a Saturday, and can't be done on foot

I used to use a backpack as it was a fairly small round was better on a bike and for the back

How far from home is it? Can he take a few at a time?

In theory he could, but it would add quite a lot of time so not ideal

In that case I recommend he shortens the strap as much as possible and either alternates shoulders every 5 drops or whatever or asks for a second bag to split the load weight-wise.

My dd did one for a year and managed by walking and loved it

Has he got a rack on his bike? What about a pannier or rack bag?

I had a huge round in my teens, over 50 papers which took me over an hour each day but meant I had my own money rather than relying on my parents. Looking back, a little trolley would have been ideal for it rather than a bag.

Thanks everyone for the advice. We got a new kickstand for his bike so he doesn't have to lie it on the ground at every stop, and we got him a rear basket to put his bag in. Still on a learning curve, but he's very excited to get his first pay packet this Saturday!
