The great advantage of having babies in your dotage is that empty nest syndrome is only likely to occur once you about 100. I think the next bit of privacy I'll get will be in my grave
And no, that's no help to you at all, is it? I'd suggest dinners out with your partner (if you have one) holidays, going to the theatre and cinema, thinking of peace and quiet and lovely treats and doing all the stuff you've ever dreamed of doing while you had kids living with you.
My mum has the time of her life (literally) doing all those things (no partner by choice) and she sees a lot of her grandson (my ds) and takes care of him two mornings a week, which she loves.

My daughter has just gone to Uni in Paris for 3 years and DS is off to Canada in January to become a ski instructor, worse still DH is working away a couple of nights a week.

Thank goodness I am a childminder!
