Dd and friend (17 years) want to go away for a week in the UK, preferably near beautiful beaches but near a town. They were looking at Newquay but no place seems to take under 18s. Not keen on camping and YHAs all booked. They'd consider a pod. Is it an insurance thing re places to stay for under 18s with no adult present?

I called ahead last year and they took DD and two friends all 17. £30 each in a triple room. The owner was very helpful

It must be as even Travelodge and Premier Inn have the rule these days. Many holiday companies want someone over 21 to maintain the family friendly feel. I was merrily popping off to Spain on my own at that age but it seems like it’s no longer an option.
