DD 15 can’t get over break up

My DD 15 was dumped by her boyfriend 4 weeks ago. They had been going out for 9 months and she was devastated. It came as a complete shock to her. They used to see each other Every Friday night and Sunday and twice a week at a sports type club. Thankfully they don’t go to the same school.
She just cannot get over him. I’m trying to keep her busy with friends etc but every time she seems him at the club she is set back again. She desperately doesn’t want to give the club up but is finding it very hard.
There was talk initially about them being friends but there has been no evidence of that from him. She has reached out a couple of times but was left with a stoney response.
She still has his photos on her wall and I know she looks at his social media which isn’t healthy.
Any tips to help me move her forward please?

Well. 4 weeks isn't long for heartbreak is it ? The idea of them being friends is a nonsense surely ? They would only be friends if she had no feelings for him and didn't mind seeing him with someone else.

All you can do is be there and strongly strongly encourage her to block all his social media and avoid him in real life as much as possible.

It's so painful! I think it would be natural if it took her a few months ?

I'm sure you have done this but I really wish at that age my mum had given me advice about having self respect.

If he has dumped her then she needs to have her chin up and not let him feel he van treat her with disrespect. I don't think my parents ever told me to have real self belief when it came to boys.

I remember being dumped at 15 by a boyfriend of two years. I was a mess. Played sad songs and cried 24/7.

My older brother - ten years older than me - gave me sage advice:

'Shutters down. Ignore. Laugh and smile. If you see him, wave. Concentrate on your exams and on the You you will be in 5 years' time. That You will still be the mighty special person you are now.'

I've never forgotten his words. He said them with such force and love.

It was very hard.

Sadly there isn't much you can do except be there for her. It just takes time, they do get there honestly.

My daughter went through it last year it was awful for the first 5 weeks or so but then after that she got talking to new lads and that distracted her, she unfortunately got with one soon after that I'm not too sure about but she really likes him and he seems to like her so I need to stay out of it haha.

She will be ok and get stronger each week. My daughters ex massively regrets it now and often tries to get her back but too late she's moved on.
