13yr old DD has started self harming this year. I don't know what to do. She is violent and won't talk to me, or anyone else.
She refuses school approx 50% of the time and I think she only goes in to steal pencil sharpeners for the blade.

She's finally on a CAMHS waiting list, which I will chase up. We have a family support worker who is nice but seems more focused on getting her in school. Mobile phone use is restricted but not as much as I'd like as she's so violent and won't let me sleep when she's kicking off.

I'm off out so may not reply promptly.

I'm so sorry, I don't have any advice to offer but didn't want to read and run. I also have a 13 Yr old DD, she attempted harming once and hasn't done since. I myself at 13 and 14 had a period of cutting my arms, nothing too bad, but this still does rear its head every so often even in adult life. The waiting lists for mental health support for teens is awful at the moment so if it does escalate further then maybe seek support from school nursing team/GPs etc? Sorry I can't be of any more help x

Camhs waiting list priority is based on a few factors. Missing a lot of school, risk to herself and impact on the family are included.

I would call and then send an email immediately after your call with the exact information you’ve given over the phone. Don’t be pushy but make sure you list those three points in detail and in writing.

If your worried about her safety in any capacity, you can take her to A&E and they will take you seriously and she will at least be able to access a mental health assessment there whilst you wait for the more long term one in camhs outpatient setting.
