Nando’s - clever way of paying when you’re not there?

Dd is 14 in a couple of weeks and I’ve offered to treat her and her friends to a Nando’s. They will be going on the train so I won’t be there. Is there a clever way of paying on the app if you’re not there in person? I really don’t want to give dd the cash and I’m not sure how else we could pay

You can get Nandos gift cards.

Watapalava · 09/03/2022 20:19

Can’t you just give her your card? That’s what I did with my 14 yr old

Whattochoosenow · 09/03/2022 20:19

Can you preload a gift certificate?

BeforeGodAndAllTheFish · 09/03/2022 20:19

Get her a nando's gift card.

littlemissminor · 09/03/2022 20:19

Can you get her a gift card? Tesco do general restaurant ones that you can spend in Nando's

Bratnews · 09/03/2022 20:20

Does your DD have a bank card? For my DC at that age I’d just transfer them cash and they’d pay.

HaggisBurger · 09/03/2022 20:20

Apple Pay on her phone. Take it off afterwards?

cherryonthecakes · 09/03/2022 20:20

If she has a card then bank transfer the money and she pays

LubaLuca · 09/03/2022 20:20

Send more than enough money to your daughter's account.

FlyingFlamingo · 09/03/2022 20:26

When dd did this she phoned us and we transferred the correct amount

Longdistance · 09/03/2022 20:28

My dd has her own bank card (Nationwide), she’s 12. I load it up when she needs. Not sure how long you need time wise? Or maybe send her with vouchers.

BooksAndHooks · 09/03/2022 20:46

Mine all had their own debit cards from age 11. They phone when there if they don’t know how much they need in advance and we transfer the money when they are ready to pay.

NoSquirrels · 09/03/2022 20:48

Get DD to look at menu in advance and cost it up. Add an extra amount of contingency. Transfer to her bank account/card. Tell her you want the receipt after!

OutlookStalking · 09/03/2022 20:49

We would transfer cash to her card. If she doesnt have a card yiu ca get a hyperjar one free linked to your a/c but at 14 her own one might be a good idea. Failing that what's wrong with some cash in a purse?

ThirstyMeeples · 09/03/2022 20:50

DS has his own account and uses his own card when he goes out. We transfer his allowance into that. He manages the amount every month. Think the can have their own account from age 12.

TeenHelpD · 09/03/2022 20:50

Thank you! I can’t believe I didn’t think of the bank card!

My kids have got hyperjar accounts and I really recommended them. Get their own bank cards and can load onto google/ apple pay too. You can easily transfer money into their account in seconds on the app

Just give her cash. Why don't you want to do that?
Shockedmama · 13/03/2022 11:13

Gift cards can go wrong. I put my spare card on my daughters Apple Pay and then she can tap it! That way if any issues I can sort it out from where I am too! I can also put more on if needed

ffscovid · 13/03/2022 11:17

HyperJar card. If you apply now, it'll arrive by then (takes about a week). Put on enough to cover the expected bill and transfer back any unspent funds into your account afterwards.

DaisyDozyDee · 13/03/2022 11:25

Hyperjar cards are absolutely brilliant. I think all Nando’s have switched over to ordering and paying on your phone anyway though, which makes things a little different.
If you think she might find it stressful, get the Nando’s account set up on her phone before she goes.

Parpophone · 13/03/2022 12:19

Give a teenager your bank card and PIN?

Nope.

Watapalava · 13/03/2022 12:55

What do you think your own Chile would steal from you?! If that’s a concern you have big problems

Mizydoscape · 13/03/2022 13:03

Last time we went to Nandos you could use their app to order to the table. Bit of a pain as you'd need their table number and what they wanted but you could order it all remotely.

Parpophone · 13/03/2022 13:46

@Watapalava I don't have big problems thanks, and I am not suggesting that the OPs daughter is anything but honest.

I would be more concerned about the fact that you aren't supposed to disclose your PIN to anyone.

If there was an issue in the future (card lost/stolen) the first question the bank would ask would be "does anyone else have access to your card/PIN?"
