School refusal - how can I help friend's teenage DD?

Posting with permission for a friend who wants advice about her 14-year-old DD. DD was bullied last term and the school dealt with it badly - issue was complex and DD not totally innocent but was ganged up on and started refusing to go to school.

My friend and her DH found a private school that could take her and encouraged her to go there instead. DD was initially ok with it but only went every other day or so and gradually gave up altogether - now is refusing to go outside at all in case she sees anyone from her old school. My friend has enrolled her in another school and also suggested she could learn at home from an online package but her DD is absolutely refusing and insists that the only answer is for them to move house altogether!

My friend is tearing her hair out and has been signed off work sick. Any suggestions for what to do?

Friend's dd is obviously experiencing some really big emotions. Would she consider taking to a therapist to help her manage them? This is currently working please don't jinx it for my anxious DD of a similar age

Get her dd a suitable teen counsellor who can do some cbt with her. A move of school is the right thing to do, not a house move but she maybe needs some support to get there.

Thanks for responses. Yes my friend found her a therapist but DD is refusing to talk to her. My friend has talked to therapist instead a little but DD just won't engage.
