Hi,
Can anyone recommend some documentaries to help educate my 13 DS. Looking for topics re sexism, racism, online bullying, addiction....
Hes a good boy but we want to discuss these topics and are looking for a starting point that would properly catch his attention.
Thanks a lot.

One night of Ecstacy on BBC iplayer is the true story of a young lad who died at a festival from drugs and also the consequences for friends who supplied the pill. It's well done and very moving.

Does it have the topics you have mentioned. My Dd13 and myself enjoyed The kindness diaries, Steve Reeve travel documentaries.

The school that tried to end racism on Channel 4

Might not be quite what you're looking for, but I've had loads of interesting discussions with my teen dd off the back of Call the Midwife. It covers all sorts in a kind of gentle manner, abortion, mental illness, domestic violence, disabilities, sexism, racism, etc etc

Oh also, the Stories for Kids/Boys who Dare to be Different series. It might be a bit young for your son but certainly opens up discussions about all the above topics.

This is great. Thanks so much. I'll try anything to be honest!

I think a lot of TV dramas aimed at teenage audiences cover these kind of issues so you can sit and watch something for fun together and then discuss .

I can't recommend any specifics as my DS is older now. I can remember us watching 13 reasons why together but I wouldn't consider that appropriate for 13 year old . I think DS was around 16.
