Oh I feel so sorry for her. She had invited a few friends over from another town they are all 14/15. We were going out for a meal so would have left them in for a few hours with snacks etc. She’d bought a lovely dress & got her nails done & was looking forward to it. Now none of them are coming as too hard to get lifts home which I thought might happen as the mums & dads will likely have a drink. I’ve offered her to come with us for the meal (no way eye roll), to go to her aunties with her wee cousins (again she says no). I’ve said she can invite a school pal
Up but it’s a bit last minute. She says she’ll just stay in with the dogs. We are just local for a meal with friends but now I’m feeling I should leave the meal early & come & see the new year in with her so she’s not on her own…

Hope she comes. We always had sleepovers for NYE with one friend or another. Dont ask for an early pickup no one wants to battle through a hangover to collect a teen at 9am and they won't want to get out of bed in time anyway!!

I'd have assumed that they were staying the night, to be honest. Or that you were able to run them home. Very few parents will expect to pick teens up on New Year, they are likely to want a drink themselves. Were they staying up to see the bells in?

Hope you get something sorted.

It would be really unfair to leave her alone for NYE. I imagine parents just presumed it was a sleepover.
