Problem BO

Anyone got any advice? My 16 year old son has a BO problem.
We've tried most of the available anti-perspirants available, but he manages to obliterate them by lunchtime.
Clothes are laundered regularly with white vinegar.
He showers at least once a day, dries properly before spraying.
Before I go and spend a fortune on something super powerful, do any of you have a recommendation?

Have you tried sure extreme?

If so I’d try TripleDry.

Anti bacterial hand-wash under the pits kills off the bacteria, also body scrub to temove the old layers of deodorant. A cream deodorant at night, then a roll on in the morning.

Ah I see you say spraying. I feel roll ons are more effective.

Odaban. You can buy it at the chemist OTC, or off Amazon. You need to build up the effect over several nights, and make sure you apply only a small amount to clean dry skin. www.odaban.com/

For those suggesting roll ons, how ďoes that work for boys with hairy pits?

Mitchum 48HR Protection is good. Roll on is more effective than spray, even with hairy pits.

Another for Mitchum 48HR Protection

Best deodorant

TheRugbyValkyrie · 28/10/2021 19:04

Weirdly, mitchum is one we haven't tried. As for shaving his pits, I will suggest it, but I don't think it's going to go down too well.

I think the main problem is that men get wet under the shower and slop a bit of shower gel around and think that counts as “washing”. It requires bar of soap (ideally antibacterial but doesn’t have to be) worked into a thick lather, rubbed into the skin/hair. This sounds so patronising but true. The problem is that whilst it’s possible to share a bathroom with a boyfriend, you can’t really do it with a child past a certain age!

SockFluffInTheBath · 28/10/2021 19:37

My 2 use Mitchum and it works well.

If that’s no good try an overnight roll on. I’d recommend perspirex, but avoid driclor as it’s fecking evil and burns like hell no matter how well you think you’ve dried your skin.

BigSandyBalls2015 · 29/10/2021 08:46

Go back to bars of soap rather than shower gel, much more effective.

Big fan of Salt of The Earth. It takes about two weeks to transition to it but as long as you are clean when it goes on - see PPs on soap etc then it prevents the smells. Changed my life. Start during a school holiday as the body will excrete all the horrible stuff blocked by previous deodorants so in the short term may even be worse. It doesn’t stop the sweat it stops the smell. It’s been a life changer for me. I was your son as a teenager.

Insertfunnyname · 29/10/2021 08:55

You need proper soap not shower gel in the shower on armpits. Or anti bac hand wash. Something that will obliterate bacteria, which shower gel doesn’t.

MilduraS · 29/10/2021 09:21

The only ones that work for me are Driclor and Perspirex. I've only found them in Boots.
