I hate that word, but I couldn't think of how else to phrase it. Is this "normal" pre-teen/teen behaviour? It's just silly little things but I feel like it happens way too frequently. Couple of examples I've only chosen as they happened this evening literally within 10 minutes of each other...DC washing something in the sink, meanwhile the water is going everywhere all down the side and onto the floor, DC says "oh, the water is going everywhere" but continues without trying to resolve the water going everywhere until I got involved....minutes later takes some fruit from the fridge starts eating it then says "try this, it's tastes horrible" I say no thank you then DC goes to put it back in the container. I hope I'm not sounding too harsh, but things like this happen all the time and I feel like she should have a little more common sense-in this case bin the horrible tasting fruit and switch the tap off. (The flooding the kitchen happened a couple of days ago as well, I came downstairs to find a huge puddle of water after DC had used the sink). I've asked her if it's because she simply doesn't care as she's not the one who has to sort things out or if there's a problem, she says neither...is this just usual behaviour for kids and they grow out of it or is this something I need to do something about and if so what and how?
