Choosing clothing brands for teenage boys

My lovely, nerdy shy 16 year old has never shown any interest in clothes but having just started sixth form wants some new clothes and to find his style. We live in a small town so it means buying online. What brands are cool for teenage boys? He wants to be a bit quirky and different (he did want to buy a pair of yellow dungarees but I side stepped!). Thanks!

He really needs to do this himself. Or you’ll end up with a pile of clothes he didn’t really want. My teen is into going to the gym eating well etc. So brand wise wears gymshark, 11 degrees, has Nike 95 trainers, wears FORTY for more casual has top shop jeans and bits from older brother too he gets many hand me downs which he loves. Older son has some branded stuff but just now wears what he’s comfy in. Shops on asos tends to be plain unbranded and hoodies, joggies, jeans etc. Did buy some very fancy white trainers with his birthday cash I think they are a fancy brand but I’m not 100% sure. But I just let them find their own way so you could look at ASOS etc and see what he gravitates to then buy a few items for him to try. Perhaps once he makes some friends he can go off shopping - mine go to Glasgow loads with friends (also small town with no decent shops as they’ve all closed down) or you could go together if he will go with you?
Good luck I’ve got 2 more boys I’ll need to clothe in teens soon,

Take a look at Boohoo, classic to really out there styles. Very cheap so when he wants to change up his style money isn’t being wasted. Very easy to buy staple items but accessorise with something a bit more quirky 😊

at that age give hime the money and a bus ticket to town.

my teens wear a lot of h&m (jeans and basics) and then some topsfrom smaller, hipper stores.

their school stipulates no large brand names and no slogans on clothing, that limits them somewhat.

It's truly so variable.
Mine has to wear suits for school so no chance to wear brands but out of school, despite being sporty etc, he would not be seen dead in Nike and Adidas clothes (except trainers) - he wears a lot of unbranded things from H and M but also Hollister, Jack Wills, Closure and Nicce.
My friend who lives an hour away from me and whose children go to an independent school nearby (mine are at state - no idea if that makes a difference) only wear Nike and Adidas and won't wear any of the brands mentioned above.
I recently did a day in school for covid testing (before they were officially back so no uniforms) and the only thing I could see was that pretty much no one was in Nike and Adidas. But there were at least as many people in ripped jeans and DMs and unbranded clothes as in other brands (probably more). There were lots of people in very "different" vintagey clothes too. I didn't see anyone in yellow dungarees but they would have not looked out of place - honestly!

Yeah, he needs to go and buy for himself. Transfer him the money and he can do his own online shopping.

Thanks for the replies so far! I agree he needs to do his own shopping but he needs some ideas to get started or he'll probably buy some very expensive random mistakes that he won't actually wear! He's like me- hates shopping and buying clothes Confused

At that age my two wore a mix of Next, and were quite happy to have quantity over quality at Primark. By the end of 6th Form it all got a bit designer but they were paying for it themselves by then.

It was business dress for DS1 at 6th Form, and at DS2's it was all joggers/jeans and hoodies.
