Messy bedroom dd16 - Yeast sachets?

DD 16 has finished school and has become more and more territorial about her filthy bedroom. I went in this morning when she was at 6th form induction to retrieve some dirty towels. I came across about 10 sachets of yeast hidden (but not very well) amongst her school books?? I grabbed the towels and left no point asking her about them until DH gets home as she will just lie and no point spending half a day tidying up as it will be as bad again tomorrow and another argument. Any ideas what she could be using them for she isn’t into cooking or baking could they be the latest remedy for spots or something else? She eats very little think bland beige food chocolate and chocolate crisps. She isn’t anorexic but she has an appalling diet.

Brewing beer?

Wbeezer · 14/06/2021 15:12

Making home made alcopops, you can use bread yeast to make home made ginger beer, its alcohol content is very variable. This is a long shot....

Is she studying chemistry at school? Would fit in with the alcohols topic (we brew alcohol)

Yes I saw this. Our DS is nearly 18 so at Christmas or very occasionally 3 or 4 times in a year we have offered them both a small beer or a small glass of wine. Yet DD has always refused it because she disliked the smell she wouldn’t even entertain a sip of shop bought very low alcohol bucks fizz at Christmas.
She has done chemistry to O level.

Did she do food studies at school? Could it be left over from a lesson?

AlwaysLatte · 14/06/2021 16:16

Since it was with her school books I'd be inclined to think it was from a cookery or science lesson?

HazyDaisy123456 · 14/06/2021 16:47

No she is year 11 and hasn’t done any cookery at school for a number of years.
