Finding life with Ds difficult at the moment.
He is chronically slow. I even put a large clock in the bathroom and it's had no effect whatsoever. When he is on the playstation he is so loud. We remind him and it continues. His voice is so loud and booming. I have even recorded sound clips to play to him later to try to get him to understand how loud he is.
He is having fun and hasn't seen any friends for months but it's so bloody infuriating

It does!

How old is DS? It’s beastly for kids at the moment, really good that he’s interacting with his mates

Oh God, I hope so. DS is 15 and spends most of his time wearing headphones and shouting - either at the Xbox or friends he is playing with, or both.

He woke me at 1.00am this morning, by going downstairs to get food whilst wearing his headphones. He had some God awful 'grime' music on and was loudly droning out the lyrics as he thumped down the stairs. Then banged every cupboard door in the kitchen. Then droned his way back up the stairs and banged his bedroom door.

I was raging, but if you get up to bollock him it just prolongs the argument - I didn't bang the door! I wasn't making any noise! For God's Sake!

It's quite a slow process, though. Wine

It does! they move out and go to University or get jobs and leave the house. They have to adhere to deadlines or there's proper grown up consequences.

TBF DS2 (19) has a FT job and still comes home and yells down his headset to his mates all evening but he can't go to the pub with them so I am trying to turn a blind eye!

It's tough for teens at the moment but it's not forever.

Hahah this made me laugh ! That could be my16 year old . SO loud on the Xbox omg

Badly need schools back !

mamaduckbone · 16/02/2021 09:26

I feel your pain. Ds15 also frequently yells at the PlayStation, but I did also hear him singing dreadful pop songs with his mates down the headset and laughing like a drain last night which brightened my day no end - at least it's a way of having a laugh in these dreary times!

DS keeps asking to have his Xbox in his bedroom, which is next to our bedroom. This thread has reminded me why it's currently at the other end of the house Grin

It's hard not to be loud when you have headphones on. They muffle your voice.
Both myself and my DH have told told each other off for shouting on zoom calls etc.

I would say though that neither of my kids would be allowed to roam the house in the small hours. Our downstairs is alarmed overnight.
I know life is different at the moment but I haven't allowed mine to get nocturnal. They maybe up later that is but they still have to keep reasonable hours.

It's harder to stop something that has been going on that to never let it start.

That's why the playstation is in the living room. It goes off before 9pm. I can monitor what's happening ,which would not be possible in his attic bedroom
